NBC has gave an eight-episode order to the project. The show, hosted by Kathy Hilton, was to be in the vein of "My Fair Lady." It featured 10 young women from around the country who have unrealized potential.
During the course of the show, Kathy Hilton gave the girls guidance on how to succeed and join "the good life." She introduced them to different fields -- such as publishing, fashion, cosmetics -- so they found the area best suited for their talents.
While on the show, contestants stayed at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York, which Rick Hilton's grandfather and Hilton hotel-chain founder Conrad Hilton bought in 1949.
The winner of "The Good Life," who was determined through a process of elimination, got a job in the field in which she fared best, a car and a one-year stay at the Waldorf-Astoria.
But Paris Hilton hit a dinger with her new reality show.

Paris Hilton confirmed the longstanding rumor that Nicole Richie would not be part of the fourth edition of The Simple Life, which will film on the Hawaiian island of Maui. Instead, said Paris, the new co-star would be Paris' pal Kimberly Stewart, the daughter of rocker Rod Stewart and his ex-wife Alana.
Paris made it clear whom she thinks is the straw that stirs The Simple Life. Said Paris, "It's my show; I've had it three seasons, and I just want to freshen it up — make it newer and funner."

"T-Mobile's computer forensics and security team is actively investigating to determine how Ms. Hilton's information was obtained," the company said in a statement. "This includes the possibility that someone had access to one of Ms. Hilton's devices and/or knew her account password."
The company declined to say when the breach had occurred or when it was discovered, citing an ongoing investigation.
The Sidekick allows owners to make phone calls, surf the Web, take pictures, and send e-mail and instant messages. It uses an online server to store at least some information, including phone numbers.
A website said it had confirmed the authenticity of many of the numbers and e-mail addresses, including those of rapper Eminem, actor Vin Diesel, actress Lindsay Lohan, singers Christina Aguilera and Ashlee Simpson, and tennis players Andy Roddick and Anna Kournikova.
The FBI reportedly has opened an investigation.
The revelation came a month after T-Mobile admitted that a hacker had gained access to the names and Social Security numbers of 400 T-Mobile customers. The incident, which was discovered in late 2003, came to light after 21-year-old Nicolas Jacobsen was charged with the crime.
Jacobsen pleaded guilty to one felony charge of accessing a protected computer and causing reckless damage. He faced a possible sentence of a maximum of five years' imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.

"It was a mixed blessing," says Carl's Jr.'s executive vice president of marketing, Brad Haley. "It turned out that Paris was too hot for our servers."
The company is known for its racy television ads, one of which featured a woman eating a burger while riding a mechanical bull. Another starred Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner and several playmates. That ad was condemned by televangelist the Rev. Robert Schuller.
The chain also touts huge, dripping burgers at a time when other fast-food restaurants are offering more healthy alternatives.
The company's ad agency suggested using Hilton.
"She's very appealing to our demographic," which they described as young, hungry, horny guys.
"And it turns out she really loved the burger we wanted her to promote," the sad agency said. "We did see her eat a couple of them at the shoot."
The company featured a 60-second version, which was "racier," on its Web sites.

Andy Puzder, the CEO of Carl's Jr who tells PTC, "Get a life." Puzder then says, "This isn't Janet Jackson -- there is no nipple in this. There is no nudity, there is no sex acts -- It's a beautiful model in a swimsuit washing a car."
On the Website, Carl's Jr. marketing chief Brad Haley says that the idea was to create an music video type ad. He chuckles and says, "Great-looking actress, great-looking car, great-looking burger, that's pretty much the idea."
One of the main objections from PTC is that unlike a TV show this ad can pop up at anytime. So for parents there's no real way to keep their kids from seeing it. The ad has run during sports programs, on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" finale and on the season-ending episodes of Fox's "The O.C." and NBC's "The Apprentice."
Paris describes the ad as "clever and got." There is now word on what Hilton was paid for her work.

Paris Hilton has been offered more than $1.8m to appear in the German version of cult reality TV show Big Brother.
If the blonde heiress agrees to the amazing deal, she will join a bizarre band of ex-strippers, beauty queens, a married couple and a virgin, who are living under 24-hour scrutiny on the set.
The German Big Brother production company Endemol is desperate to enlist the glamorous Hilton, and has confirmed she is still considering their generous offer.
Endemol manager Rainer Laux said: "Yes, it is true, we have approached her."
